      An international team made up of some 50 researchers works on the analysis of CoRoT’s observations on a daily basis. This team announced last month the discovery of six new exoplanets and one brown dwarf.

    11. Anatomie martienne: après seulement deux ans de surveillance sismique, la structure interne de la planète rouge révélée

      Avant la mission Insight de la NASA opérée par le JPL, la structure interne de Mars était encore mal connue, étudiée grâce aux images des satellites en orbite martienne et à l’analyse des météorites martiennes. Depuis début 2019 et le succès du déploiement du premier sismomètre martien, l’expérience SEIS, les scientifiques ont collecté et analysé les données sismiques d’une année martienne, soit presque deux années terrestres, qui nous donnent des indications directes sur la structure de Mars, et donc sur sa formation et son histoire.

      The CNES delegation to the maritime economy convention in Nice, led by its Chairman & CEO Philippe Baptiste, was welcomed to the Monaco Oceanographic Museum by its Director, Robert Calcagno, Tuesday 14 September. After a guided tour and discussions centred on future areas for cooperation, Philippe Baptiste and Robert Calcagno signed a partnership agreement aimed at gaining new insights into the oceans through space technologies, in the presence of His Excellency Laurent Stefanini, France’s Ambassador to Monaco.

      Participant aux Assises de l’économie de la mer à Nice, la délégation du Centre National d’Études Spatiales (CNES) emmenée par son Président-directeur général, Philippe Baptiste, a été accueillie au Musée océanographique de Monaco par Robert Calcagno, Directeur de l’établissement, ce mardi 14 septembre. Au terme d’une visite guidée et d’un échange autour des axes de la future coopération, Philippe Baptiste et Robert Calcagno ont signé une convention de partenariat visant à développer une meilleure connaissance de l’Océan à l’aide des technologies spatiales, en présence de S.E. M. Laurent Stefanini, Ambassadeur de France à Monaco.

    14. One Planet Summit World’s space agencies propose to set up a Space Climate Observatory

      On the eve of the One Planet Summit organized in Paris at the initiative of President Emmanuel Macron, the heads of the world’s space agencies met today at CNES Head Office. At this meeting focused on climate monitoring from space, three round tables addressed the topics of greenhouse gas monitoring, water resource management and the use of satellites in natural disaster management. The meeting led to the adoption of the Paris Declaration, which proposes to set up a Space Climate Observatory (SCO) to pool climate data acquired from space and make them readily available to the international scientific community.

    16. Second One Planet Summit in New York- Space Climate Observatory key to tackling climate change

      On the initiative of President Emmanuel Macron, the second One Planet Summit was held in New York on Wednesday 26 September. On this occasion, CNES President Jean-Yves Le Gall presented a status report on the Space Climate Observatory (SCO). Created in December last year at the first edition of this event where CNES brought together the world’s space agencies to step up their cooperation on tackling climate change, the SCO really moved into higher gear last June by highlighting the vital role that satellites have to play in this effort. In New York, an interactive terminal developed by CNES gave Summit participants an overview of a range of applications where satellites are making a crucial contribution.
