THE MISSIONS OF THE PROTEUS SERIES
 

The first mission, JASON 1, is an altimetry mission launched on december 7th, 2001, by a Delta II launcher and is still operational.

The second mission, CALIPSO, was launched on april 28th, 2006, by a Delta II launcher. Its objective is to study the radiative budget of clouds and aerosols for a better understanding of the climate evolution.

The third mission, COROT, astronomy mission, was launched on december 27th, 2006, by a Soyouz launcher. It studies the stellar sismology and searches telluric exoplanets.

The fourth mission, SMOS, studying the soil moisture and the ocean salinity as well as the cryosphere, was launched on November 2nd, 2009 by a Rockot launcher.

The fifth mission, JASON 2 is the successor of JASON 1 and was launched on june 20th, 2008 by a Delta II launcher.
