The ADEOS Ground Segment is responsible for command and control of the ADEOS Satellite telemetry acquisition, orbit control and restitution and processing of raw sensor data into level 0 data. Its JAXA/EOC component in charge of data acquisition and processing into level 0 data, delivers POLDER level 0 data to the POLDER Ground Segment.

The POLDER Ground Segment generates POLDER programming orders and delivers them to the JAXA/TACC element of the ADEOS Ground Segment for uplinking to ADEOS.

It processes POLDER level 0 data into POLDER Standard Products. Such products are distributed by the CNES POLDER Ground Segment and the ADEOS Data Center to the worldwide user community.

The POLDER Ground Segment is made up of three components:

the POLDER Processing Center, located in CNES, Toulouse. It is composed of four systems:

the Instrument Control System responsible for the generation of POLDER programming commands and for the control of housekeeping data,
the Data Processing System responsible for processing level 0 data into higher level products,
the Archiving and Management System responsible for the archiving of level 0 data and POLDER Standard Products,
the User Interface System responsible for the delivery of POLDER Standard Products and the processing of user requests.

the Image Quality System responsible for the computation of calibration parameters and the verification of the radiometric and geometric quality of Level 1 Products (located in CNES, Toulouse, close to the POLDER processing center),
the Scientific Quality System responsible for the verification of the quality of Level 2 and 3 Products (this work is done both by LSCE/CEA, Paris and in the framework of POSTEL at Medias France, Toulouse).
 

A new version of the Processing Center is getting ready for POLDER2 (see new scheme).
Its main characteristics are:

Better performances of the Systematic Processing and archiving of POLDER data from level 0 up to level 3 (650 GB per week).
Product ordering via Web server : Subscription or request.
Access to the POLDER products via FTP or Media: CDROM, DVDROM, DLT or EXABYTE.
New products available : Daily and monthly syntheses of main geophysical parameters on HDF format.
