The CNES is responsible for the PARASOL mission whole development, which includes:
 
    the platform, the payload, the Command Control Ground Segment MIGS (MIcro-satellite Ground Segment) and Users Ground Segment development,
    the satellite integration and its launch,
    the MIGS operations of all or parts of the Users Ground Segment.

The PARASOL mission scientific organization includes

    a principal investigator,
    a scientific mission group, form of french users community representatives.

The PARASOL mission principal investigator, who belongs to the LOA, accepts the project full scientific responsability and presides the scientific mission group.
He is particularly responsible for:

    the elaboration and the validation of the mission specification,
    the discussion and the decision on the compromises which would take place between the mission specification and the system capacities,
    the scientific products definition,
    the leading of the scientific activities regarding the PARASOL mission.

The PARASOL mission group is also composed of:

    three co-investigators of the LOA,
    one co-investigator of the LMD,
    one co-investigator of the LSCE
    one co-investigator of the LATMOS, who is Principal Investigator for the CALIPSO mission, in order to take into account the related needs and the synergies between that mission and PARASOL.

The PARASOL mission group helps the principal investigator to:

    elaborate the mission specification,
    discuss the mission / system compromises,
    define the scientific products,
    lead the scientific activities of the mission.

The PARASOL project manager, and the CNES responsibles for the mission activities, the payload, the scientific mission center, the image quality and the POLDER-PARASOL and atmosphere meteorological program responsibles, are permanent guests of the PARASOL mission group.
