2nd IASI INTERNATIONAL CONFERENCE

Dear Colleagues,

EUMETSAT and CNES have started preparations for the 2nd IASI International Conference, to present and discuss the recent progress of the utilisation of the Infrared Atmospheric Sounding Radiometer (IASI), now in operation for nearly 3 years. The conference will be held in Sevrier near Annecy (Haute Savoie) in France January 25 to 29, 2010.

Following the continuing important work of the IASI Sounding Science Working Group (ISSWG), this second IASI Conference will allow to present and compare the operational products, their current quality and the research products. The goal is to foster new scientific research and development to improve the products and to encourage enhanced use of IASI data and advanced, value-added products to be derived from the IASI instrument, alone or in synergy with other instruments.

The purpose of this announcement is to invite you to confirm your participation and to submit your abstract.

Registration fee

Up to October 15, 2009, registration fee is 180 € per person, taxes included (120 € TTC for all students).
Starting October 16, 2009, registration fee is 250 € per person, taxes included.
On site, registration fee is 350 € per person, taxes included.

The deadline for submitting abstracts is October 1st.

Conference format

The final format will be discussed within the scientific committee. There will be plenary sessions and a poster session.

Accommodation

The conference location will be "Les balcons du lac d'Annecy" (http://www.village-vacances.com/balcons_lac_annecy_fr.html) in Sevrier (Haute Savoie), 8 km from Annecy.

The rates are 100 €/day (400 € for the full stay). The French participants will pay the per diem allocation.
This covers lunch, dinner, bed and breakfast at the hotel.
Accommodation form

The conference will start on January 25th at 12:30 and finish on Friday January 29th, 2010 at 14:00 (lunches included).

Transportation

The closest international airport is Geneva (http://www.gva.ch). There is also an international airport in Lyon St Exupery (www.lyon.aeroport.fr) and a national airport in Annecy connected to Paris Orly (www.annecy.aeroport.fr).

The closest train station is located in Annecy where trains from Paris (TGV) arrive with a frequency of every two hours.

Annecy and surroundings

Annecy is a very beautiful town to visit (http://www.lac-annecy.com/). It is very close (about 45 mn) from ski resorts like La Clusaz, Le Grand Bornand etc. There would be some possibilities to stay the week-ends before and after at good rates:

    full board, double room: 56 Euros/night/person,
    half board, double room: 49 Euros/night/person,
    full board, single room: 66 Euros/night/person,
    half board, single room: 59 Euros/night/person.

You also have to pay a subscription of 3 Euros and a tourist tax of 0.25 Euros/day/person. The bookings will be direct to les Balcons du lac d'Annecy – Antoine – Tel 04 50 52 47 12.
