Timeline

CARDIOMED project has two main objectives

An operational objective of medical monitoring of the cosmonautes on board the International Space Station (ISS).
A scientific objective: to study the human cardio-vascular system and its evolution in microgravity.

The system is developed in a franco-russian convention framework between CNES and IMBP (Institute for Biomedical Problems).

Angers and Tours CHU research teams bring a scientific support to the system development and use of the medical data coming from its exploitation.

CNES is responsible of the CARDIOMED system development and qualification as well as its delivery to the russian part.

IMBP is in charge of the system commissioning and its lift to ISS on board PROGRESS russian cargo spacecraft.

CARDIOMED system exploitation is realised from TSOUP, in flight control center in Moscow, under medical responsibility of russian doctors.
